Mary Bourne Butts

Mary Bourne Butts grew up dancing at Eastern Shore Dance Academy from 1999 to 2010. Mary Bourne was given the opportunity to play Mary Poppins for her senior recital. In 2014 she graduated from the University of Alabama with a Dance and Business Management degree. After graduation, Mary Bourne trained with the Dance Theatre of Tennessee in Nashville, and eventually moved to North Carolina where she spent the next two years working at two dance studios, Destination Arts and Advance Dance. Her most favorite job while living in NC, was working as a manager at Carolina Dancewear. It was there that she was trained in fitting pointe shoes. In 2016, Mary Bourne moved back to Spanish Fort and now will begin her third year working at ESDA. Eastern Shore Dance Academy has given Mary Bourne the chance to teach what’s important to her, that dance is more than just technique and flexibility- dance is about bringing people together, feeling a sense of belongingness, working hard physically and emotionally, and expressing yourself in a magical way
